ParticipantHi Everyone,
I have been joining CIBBOWS but never coming to the beach on a weekend to do an actual open water swim. So basically I get the discount for one race and that’s it.
Just curious are practices on the weekend limited to certain months? I’m assuming lifeguards are not at the beach now? Just curious when practices kick off and when they end officially.
After hearing about the jetskis I might hold off until next year when lifeguards are back in the chairs.

KeymasterHi Jennifer. The coached swims can only go on when the beaches are open and lifeguards are on duty – therefore from Memorial Day weekend till Labor Day. Our season is officially over now. People still do swim but it’s on their own, and knowing beaches are closed and it’s technically not legal to swim off season.

GuestIs there a chance to meet one member of CIBBOWS tomorrow Sunday Oct 3, 2021 at the beach? If yes, please let me know the time and the meeting point?
Thank you,

GuestHey All,
Just want to say a huge thanx to Nicholas and Paul who were kind enough to explain the ins and outs of the water and the best routes to swim. They then went the extra mile and actually swam with us, to the peer and back!
Great swim, thanx, and well done on running a great group here and making our awesome sport accessible to everyone!Until next time 🙂

ParticipantAny folks planning on Swimming this Sunday (Sept, 4th?) and, if so, what time do people usually show up to swim?

KeymasterHi Jonathan! It is not legal to swim in NYC in the off season. That said, people do still swim, usually without consequence. You’ll find people on the beach directly down from Brighton 4th St. on weekends (and smaller groups during the week). If Parks Dept. employees ask you to exit the water you should comply. But most people go in the mornings and swim without any disruption.

Yaron
GuestHi there
My name is Yaron and I’m an experienced open water swimmer from Israel.
I’m coming for a visit in a couple of days (9/21-9/26), and I would love to go for a swim.
Since this is my first time in this area I prefer not to go swimming alone (plus, it’s less fun), so if anyone would want to pair up for a swim that would be awesome.BTW what’s the water temp over there?
And if anyone plans to come to Israel at any time and wants to swim, I will be happy to introduce you to our local amazing open water swimming groups.
