Due to my school schedule, I would like to be swimming by 7:30 am sometimes. Is that OK in NY? It seems like people go hysterical if you try to swim without a lifeguard. I’d have my bf on shore watching me.

Hi Christine. NYC law prohibits swimming without lifeguards. That said, there are swimmers who swim off hours or off season – just be prepared that the Parks Dept. might ask you to get out, and it’s within their jurisdiction to issue summonses as well. I will say that rarely happens. But Parks tends to hang around more in the summer months than in the off season.

Thanks Jacqueline! Does anyone swim in the Hudson River near Manhattan?

No – not without an event taking place. It’s too dangerous with boat traffic and a sure way to get arrested. 🙂

Hello! i will be in NY this week and Alex Arévalo told me there is an earlybird swimmmers Group on Friday?
Just wanted to see if I could do a quick “warm up” swim before my big swim on Saturday.
      Thank you!

Do they ever actually make a CIBBOWS group get out of the water at BB?
