ParticipantWilling to pay CIBBOWs coaches to swim between jetties with me and give me tips. I’m flexible on days/times. Best days for me are M-Th and Sun. I’m training for an Aug 5 Alcatraz Crossing (non-competitive) and I’m freaking out 🙂
Please text me at 917 656 0601 or email phyllisfreilich@hotmail.com

GuestHi Virginie,
Welcome to NY!
Unfortunately, my whole summer training situation changed due to a heavier-than-usual work schedule and family obligations. I had to cancel my SF/Alcatraz plans months ago 🙁
CIBBOWS is such a great place to meet swim buddies. I saw a recent CIBBOWS posting that in addition to their weekend clinics (you’re too advanced for these), people will meet up at the same time for group distance swims. I think you can sign up on this website for a very minimal fee. Also, check out the upcoming CIBBOWS race calendar – the events look awesome and certainly within your capability as a non-wetsuit Alcatraz swimmer – wow!!!
Feel free to call/text me. 917-656-0601 – I’m happy to share what I know about local training options.
Happy swimming!

ParticipantActually, there are clinics for advanced swimmers! I teach (and invented!) swim clinics for CIBBOWS called “Jetty Drills” which are for swimmers who can comfortably do a mile in open water but are looking for something extra. We usually head to the pier and back, 1-2miles depending on the currents and ability of the group. I do some drills to both improve form and to expand your training techniques. FYI, I also have private clients that I train at the beach. You can contact me patricia@cibbows.org for private coaching or sign up for one of the members “jetty drills” clinics on the website!
