… is now the Around the Island Swim Festival (they moved it to nearby Lake Mohawk). They’re still looking to attract enough swimmers to guarantee that the event will happen:
“We’re excited to host the Around The Island Swim Festival on September 10th featuring 1.2-mile and 2.4-mile swims around Lake Mohawk. WE HOPE TO HAVE YOUR COMMITMENT BY AUGUST 15TH to ensure that we can move forward with our event, enabling us to cover our event costs and optimistically distribute any profits to our chosen charities. Our current registration is at 50% of where we need to be, please consider registering today and spreading the word about our charity event. ”

Thanks for sharing, Christopher. I just signed up for the 2.4m event. Do you know if anyone is driving from Brooklyn to Lake Mohawk on the day of the event?
I will probably rent a car if no other option becomes available. And are happy to offer seats if folks are interested.
      Thanks!

I’m signed up for the 2.4 mile length as well (I’m not fast, but if I’m going all the way to New Jersey to swim, I might as well make the most of it). I don’t have a car either, so I booked an AirBnB nearby for the night before. You can reach me at christopherjstephens at gmail if you want to try to coordinate travel details.
