Kirsten is a synchronized swimmer, open water swimmer and speed swimmer from Brooklyn, NY. Her swimming career began in Buffalo, NY at an early age, competing in synchronized swimming and speed swimming throughout middle school and high school. In 2003, she joined the US Masters certified LGBTQ+-friendly aquatics team, Team New York Aquatics, of which she has been an active member and ally for almost two decades. Kirsten participates in international competitions with TNYA, competing with her team in synchronized swimming and open water swimming.

Kirsten found CIBBOWS for the first time in 2005, participating in the Grimaldo’s Mile race. It took until 2017 for her to find her way back into open water swimming and the CIBBOWS community. The spring and summer of 2020 inspired Kirsten to dive deeper into her open water practice, and she has been swimming regularly with CIBBOWS ever since.

Kirsten is a Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and teaches swimming to all ages and experience levels through the Prospect Park YMCA. She hopes to eventually introduce synchronized swimming to the aquatics offerings there and throughout the greater NYC communities.
