Introductory Clinics
are taught by experienced coaches to give new open water swimmers instruction on how to learn about currents, how to sight, and other basic open water skills. Swimmers should be confident swimmers who may be new to open water or not quite comfortable yet – but this is not a learn to swim class. Swimmers must be able to comfortably swim laps in a pool to attend.
Group swims are fun swims without instruction. Group swim leaders decide the distance of the swim based on participants. There will be 2 group leaders for each swim – the fastest leader will lead the front of the back, the other will stay with the slowest swimmer. Please make sure your swimmers are comfortable in open water before allowing them to participate. Group Swims have 2 leaders – one will be the faster leader in the front of the pack, one will stay in back with slower swimmers.
Social distancing must be maintained and groups will kept to no more than 10 swimmers.
Beach Ambassadors will be the greeters on the beach for new members. They will wear orange caps to distinguish from other CIBBOWS members and look out for people who may seem a bit lost or confused. They will greet, introduce new people to established members, direct people to the group events leaders, and make people feel welcomed. Beach Ambassadors should be available on the beach from 9:30am-11:30am, and later if they wish.
