Role Descriptions
Friday Night Load In Crew and Set-up
Includes loading and unloading gear at Cubesmart/Ed Hall, moving kayaks from under boardwalk and pre-staging set-up for race day (inflate marker buoys, number swim caps,count out tees and other misc. tasks)
Course Set Up
Includes carrying buoys and anchors to beach, swimming items to boat, carrying kayaks to shore, assisting race timer
Swimmer Check In
Set up check in stations, check in swimmers and distribute race caps and tee shirts
Body Marking and Timing Chip Distribution
Non-wetsuit swimmers both upper arms are marked with the swimmer’s assigned number. Use thick body marker pens and write large numbers (see image below) on both upper arms.
Security and Bag Check
Includes assisting in bag check and bag retrieval, watching gear on beach and boardwalk
Swimmer Counters
Assist Race Director with tallying checked-in swimmers and counting swimmers entering and exiting the water
Beach Walkers
Part of the race safety team:observes swimmers from the shoreline. Uses marine radios and whistles to communicate with the safety team
Kayak Support
Part of the race safety team: observes swimmers from the water. Uses marine radios and whistles to communicate with the safety team. Please let us know if you need to use one of our kayaks or if you will supply your own.
Medals and Timing Chip Collection
Distribute medals to swimmers and collect timing chips as swimmers complete the race
Course Breakdown
Assist in returning gear to the boardwalk, the Ed Hall landing, and the moving van after the event is finished. Help clean up race marker buoys and kayaks.
Return Gear To Storage
Assist in moving gear from moving van to storage locker at CubeSmart.
Floaters
Assist in random tasks that arise on race day (transporting fruit and water to the finish for example)
